Richard joined A J Park in 2003 and is an associate in our Auckland office. He specialises in all aspects of patent law in the mechanical engineering field.

Richard is involved in patent practice for companies in the healthcare, appliances and mechanical engineering industries. He works for New Zealand's leading innovators including Fisher & Paykel Appliances and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare.

Richard is seconded to Fisher & Paykel Healthcare for one day a week allowing him to gain a better understanding of his client's needs and where strategic IP can be of the greatest benefit.

Richard's professional experience includes:

• patent novelty and infringement searches;
• patent drafting;
• advising clients on the patent process and datelines.

Richard completed a mechanical engineering degree at the University of Leicester in the UK.  He had previously worked for Rolls-Royce Aerospace and the British Standards Institute before moving to New Zealand in 2002.
