Charlotte is a member of AJ Park’s Auckland dispute resolution and litigation team where she deals with a spectrum of intellectual property (IP) rights. These include trade mark and copyright infringement matters, opposition proceedings, legal research, domain name disputes, and compliance programmes.
Charlotte helps her clients by enforcing their IP rights and resolving disputes. She particularly enjoys working with small-to-medium-sized companies and business owners launching new ventures who need advice on protecting the products they’ve worked hard to create.
‘I love working out the best solution for my clients, and since joining AJ Park I’ve learnt that, regardless of the situation, there’s always a solution. I especially enjoy the variety of my work and not knowing quite what each day might bring. It certainly keeps you on your toes.’
Charlotte began her career at AJ Park as a legal assistant in January 2014. She became a paralegal the following year and was hired as a solicitor after being admitted to the bar in late 2015.
Her role at AJ Park is Charlotte’s first real taste of the legal world. Before joining the firm, she studied for a conjoint BA/LLB at the University of Auckland where she double-majored in political studies and ancient history. While at university, she also worked in the fitness industry (and still does) acting as a DVD presenter for the Les Mills’ BODYSTEP and CXWORX programmes.
Upbeat, chatty and hard working, Charlotte believes great communication and commercial awareness are essential for a successful working relationship with her clients.
Really knowing your client and their business means you can tailor your strategies to deliver the best results for them. Being relatable and keeping them in the loop takes the anxiety out of what can be a stressful time and lets them know they can rely on you 100 per cent.
Charlotte says the great workplace culture at AJ Park extends to the unique and genuinely caring relationships the firm forms with its clients.
Charlotte ensures she balances the intellectual aspects of her working life with a strong physical focus outside of work. She’s passionate about fitness and loves to eat. At the weekend you’ll find her working up a sweat or teaching a gym class before meeting up with friends at a café.
