Jon joined AJ Park in 2007 and specialises in patent and related intellectual property law for biotechnology and molecular biology innovations.
On a daily basis, Jon:
- conducts patentability and freedom to operate searches
- advises on patent validity and infringement
- drafts, files and prosecutes patent applications.
Jon has a PhD in molecular marine biology. Jon also has extensive research and teaching experience at several United States institutions. He has been involved in molecular biology and microbiology teaching and research projects for the University of Massachusetts, the University of California and the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute. Jon also carried out post-doctoral research at the Alfred Wegner Institute, NASA Astrobiology and the U.S. Geological Survey.
Jon has experience with international patent systems as an examiner with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has also worked as a Principal Examiner for the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand.
