What makes a good patent search analyst?
- A strong technical background.
- An interest in and enthusiasm for science and technology.
- Excellent communication and lateral thinking skills.
- A good eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
The focus of the role is technical searching of online patent databases to identify relevant publications, and reporting search results. This involves working with search tools provided by databases and search engines, and using Boolean keyword searching. As you progress, you'll develop an awareness of state-of-the-art patent searching and analysis tools. Good written and oral communication skills are essential for this role.
- A PhD or MSc in a chemistry or biotechnology discipline; organic chemistry expertise preferred.
- We welcome applications from recent graduates, but we also encourage researchers who are looking to move out of the lab to apply.
You may be a recent graduate or partway through a postgraduate qualification and looking for a permanent full-time role where you can apply your technical expertise. If you have an eye for detail, the ability to conduct searching work, and an analytical and meticulous approach to your work, then this role in an IP firm may just be the career move for you.
