We invite you to our free Angel Investing 101 seminar and networking event.

When: 4.30pm - 7.00pm, Thursday 22 March 2018

Where: The Icehouse, The Textile Centre, Level 4, 117-125 Saint Georges Bay Road, Parnell

Join us for drinks and nibbles from 4.30pm. The seminar will start promptly at 5.00pm and will cover:

  • what angel investors do and how they invest
  • common approaches and mistakes to investing
  • what The Icehouse looks for
  • pre-money, vesting drags and tags - demystifying start-up jargon.


Jack McQuire, The Icehouse

Jack McQuire is the manager of ICE Angels, leads First Cut Ventures, and facilitates investments structuring across The Icehouse Ventures group. In his role, Jack supports the Icehouse investor network (>500 individuals) to collaborate in due diligence, negotiation and investment. In 2017, Jack enabled investment of $19.7m across 54 startups.

Jack has invested in a number of startups personally and serves as a board observer, supporting the Chair and CEOs of four Icehouse portfolio companies; Ask Nicely, Mint, Genoapay & Joyous.

Anton Blijlevens, AJ Park

Anton is a principal of AJ Park, where he has worked for 24 years. Anton has a mechanical engineering degree and a law degree, and is a qualified Australian and New Zealand patent attorney. Anton has helped large multinationals with their IP protection strategy as well as acting for many smaller NZ companies and start-ups. Anton is an active angel investor with the ICE Angels and brings his IP skills to the due diligence table. Anton has invested in over 30 start-ups over the last 15 years and also acts for many.
