Ben combines his knowledge and expertise in patent law and high-tech engineering to provide understandable and timely intellectual property advice.
A registered patent attorney in both New Zealand and Australia, Ben works closely with inventors and businesses to protect their innovations.
Ben’s work is predominantly patent-based, including novelty and freedom-to-operate searching, drafting patent specifications, prosecuting applications through examination to grant, challenging competitors’ patents and applications, and advising on patentability, infringement, and validity matters. He also advises on registered design rights and copyright.
Ben has extensive experience advising clients on all aspects of intellectual property across a diverse range of technologies, including electrical/mechanical transducers, solar power systems, agritech, consumer electronics, and medical devices.
Ben joined Baldwins (now AJ Park) in 2006, after graduating with an honours degree in computer systems and electronics engineering from Massey University. He works with clients running the full gamut, from individual inventors to large multinational corporations.
Ben is proud to have worked with world-leading and award-winning inventors and businesses. As a patent attorney involved at the early stages of commercialisation of new inventions, he is excited by the opportunity of working alongside the leading innovators and entrepreneurs of the future.
