Sam is a patent executive in Wellington’s chemistry and life sciences team. His role involves assisting clients to protect and manage their intellectual property. A key aspect of Sam’s role is to prepare, file and prosecute patent applications in New Zealand and internationally. 

Experience

Before joining AJ Park, Sam worked as a patent examiner at the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ). While at IPONZ, Sam became a registered patent attorney and started studying towards his law degree, which he expects to finish next year. Previously, Sam completed a Masters of Science (Chemistry) at Victoria University of Wellington, and was involved in a few organic synthesis research projects at the university and at Industrial Research Ltd (now Ferrier Research Institute). His primary research interest was the synthesis of naturally-derived macrocyclic lactones, such as zampanolide, the labillarides and aigialomycin D, for medicinal research.
