Arthur helps clients safeguard their inventions, from assessing their proposals to preparing, filing and prosecuting patent applications.

Expertise

Arthur is a Mechatronics engineer with a generalist approach to product development across various technologies. With a solid foundation in both electrical and mechanical engineering, he applies his technical expertise to help clients successfully navigate the patent process.

Experience

Arthur began his academic journey in 2016 with an initial interest in Physics, later transitioning to Engineering. He found the interdisciplinary approach of Mechatronics particularly appealing, as it aligned with his interest in working across a variety of technologies. During his studies, Arthur interned at Anglo Engineering, a metal fabrication company, where he gained practical experience working on a wide range of products, from agricultural equipment to electrical systems.

After completing his degree, Arthur joined Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, where he worked for three years in the Respiratory Acute Care (RAC) department. Initially starting with the Electrical Systems team, he contributed to developing electrical components for respiratory devices. Arthur then took on a temporary assignment in the Mechanical Hardware team before transitioning to a permanent position in the Consumables team, where he helped design new breathing tubes. In this role, he first collaborated with F&P’s in-house IP team, finding the IP process in product development fascinating.

Outside of work

Arthur plays electric guitar and is an avid participant in Auckland’s vibrant music scene, regularly attending local shows and performances. He also enjoys old-school tabletop games, combining nostalgia with strategy. Arthur loves spending time outdoors, particularly hiking and swimming.
