Dot Kiwi Sunrise Period now open

Article  \  14 Feb 2014

The Sunrise Period for Dot Kiwi is now open, and will run until 17 March 2014. This is the time when trade mark owners with their marks registered in the Trademark Clearinghouse can apply to register Dot Kiwi domain names matching those marks. After the Sunrise Period, Dot Kiwi domains will proceed directly to general availability, on a 'first in, first served' basis.

Dot Kiwi is being marketed as a competitor to traditional '.nz' domain names, and as a place for New Zealanders and Kiwi businesses to be. It isn't yet known how successful this will be, but it is worth considering whether you want to register Dot Kiwi domains to protect your brand in this new space.

Dot Kiwi is just one of hundreds of new gTLDs currently being released worldwide. To find out more about applying for new domains or registering your trade marks in the Clearinghouse, contact our team.
