AJ Park achieves gold for sixth year running in 2017 IAM Patent 1000

News  \  27 Sep 2017

For the sixth year running, AJ Park has been ranked ‘Gold’ in the Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) Patent 1000.

The IAM Patent 1000 is the world’s leading patent practitioners guide. Firms and individuals in the gold band are those that attract the most positive comments from sources. IAM identifies them as the ‘crème de la crème’.

“Their success hinges on reputations established over lengthy periods of time, something which enables them to secure the most high-profile, big-ticket instructions from the most demanding of clients.”

In their review, IAM described AJ Park as the ‘Australasian IP powerhouse’.

“AJ Park sits comfortably at the zenith of the patent market and has developed a lofty reputation on both sides of the Tasman Sea. It celebrated its 125th year anniversary in 2016 and continues to go from strength to strength. Working out of two broad industry groups – chemicals and technology – the 44-strong squad makes light work of even the most exacting demands of patent owners in any sector.”

Seven AJ Park partners were singled out for this year's publication, demonstrating the depth and breadth of our firm's expertise.

Particular attention has been given to Matt Adams and Michael Brown who lead the engineering and IT division.

"The former shines on the registration, protection and licensing of all software and computer-related patents; while the latter has a knack for enforcing industrial design and patent rights both locally and abroad. Brown is a dab hand in the manufacturing sector."

Anton Blijlevens is described as “a boon to the vibrant start-up scene”. Anton Gibson is “hailed for his business-minded counsel and savvy portfolio management skills”. While Greg West Walker is sought after for his “piercing insight into the market and strategic advice”.

From our litigation team, Kim McLeod was commended for “his wealth of commercial litigation experience and being a safe pair of hands for any multi-jurisdictional dispute”. “The extremely professional” Kate McHaffie was endorsed for her “enviable track record and bedside manner”.

Pete Boyle, CEO of AJ Park, is very pleased with the announcement.

"We're always very proud to be recognised by this prestigious guide as a leading choice for patent protection and litigation. After six years of achieving a gold band ranking, we're going to continue to set the benchmark in the industry by providing exceptional client service and being at the top of our game."

"Also a special mention to the partners who were individually recognised by IAM for their outstanding work for their clients and contribution to the industry."
