Blake is a member of the Commercial and Litigation team based out of our Wellington office. He specialises in intellectual property (IP) dispute resolution and has particular experience in trade mark infringement proceedings.

While specialising in dispute resolution, Blake also has experience drafting and negotiating long-term trade mark licences as well as enterprise software agreements (particularly software-as-a-service).
Before joining AJ Park in 2022, Blake spent over four years as a commercial technology lawyer at one of New Zealand's leading corporate law firms, where he advised on contractual interpretation, IP, privacy, consumer law, and general commercial matters.
He then spent time as an in-house lawyer at Z Energy Limited, New Zealand's largest fuel distributor. At Z, Blake primarily advised on procurement matters, privacy, and consumer law. He also managed Z's intellectual property portfolio.
Blake is experienced in legaltech and has worked on several complex legal automation projects. He has published on the intersection of international trade laws with blockchain systems.
Blake has been described as an extremely calm negotiator with an eye for detail. He likes to do all the groundwork before stepping into the room, which allows him to quickly hone in on the key issues. He prides himself on providing cogent, practical advice without unnecessary exposition.
Beyond the office
Blake and his wife Kimberley recently moved back to the South Island, settling down in Rangiora, North Canterbury. He loves hiking the "Great Walks", watching old movies, reading classic fiction, and dabbling in drawing and painting.
