Congratulations to Senior Associate Blake Carey, who has been named a Rising Star for 2024 by NZ Lawyer.
Blake is one of just 56 New Zealand lawyers, aged 35 and under from various practice areas, to be recognised for "the remarkable law careers they have built and their clear potential to make a significant, long-lasting impact." Specifically, the award is given in recognition of the awardees':
- outstanding client service;
- leadership within their firms;
- deep knowledge and legal expertise;
- contribution to the legal community; and
- strong work and professional ethics.
This year’s Rising Stars also display corporate acumen, which was highlighted as vital by a partner in employment law at PwC Legal NZ.
It’s important that they understand law as a business, particularly in understanding corporate clients’ issues and finding solutions not focused on the academic side. Early career lawyers who can grasp that will go far. Young lawyers also stand out from their peers with either a combination of exemplary skills or a single trait, but they are proactive in making it known they are enthusiastic.
Congratulations Blake and all the award recipients.
