Expertise
Ronnie is a Patent Engineer with a strong technical background spanning photonics, optical sensing, data processing, mechanics, and automation. His experience combines deep scientific expertise with practical product development, enabling him to understand complex technologies and communicate them effectively.
Experience
Ronnie completed his PhD studies at Victoria University of Wellington and the MacDiarmid Institute, where his research focused on developing spectroscopic techniques for the characterisation of next-generation semiconducting materials. Through this work, he developed expertise in optical systems, experimental design, and data analysis.
Following his doctoral studies, Ronnie worked as a Senior Engineer for Advemto, a deep-tech start-up, contributing to the transformation of cutting-edge research into commercially viable technology. During this time, he developed expertise in mechanical design, automation, and systems engineering, while gaining a practical understanding of the full product development lifecycle from concept through to commercialisation.
Ronnie is also fluent in Dutch.
Outside of work
Outside of work, Ronnie enjoys dog training and agility, silversmithing, and exploring New Zealand’s outdoors through hiking and photography.
