Geoff combines his international experience, in-house commercial perspective and intellectual property expertise to help clients protect and commercialise their innovations.

Experience

Geoff specialises in all aspects of patent and design law in a wide range of engineering and ICT technologies. He has extensive experience in technologies relating to electronic and electrical engineering, communications, data and signal processing, image and audio processing, 3D and colour printing, optical networks and photonics, software, database management, agriculture, machine learning applications, healthcare, industrial processes and general mechanical engineering.

Expertise

Geoff has a wide variety of experience both in New Zealand and in Europe where he qualified as a European and UK patent attorney. Apart from working in traditional patent attorney firms, he has also worked as in-house patent counsel for a large telecommunications multi-national as well as the Intellectual Property Director for a start-up developing wireless power transfer technologies which was subsequently acquired by one of the world’s largest technology companies.

Geoff has extensive experience in securing patent protection in a number of jurisdictions including Europe, USA, China, Australia and New Zealand. He also has litigation support experience in a number of different jurisdictions including the UK, Germany and New Zealand. Geoff also has significant experience with standardisation activities including patent procurement and enforcement.
