AJ Park Law Limited, Wellington
Teresa is a patent expert and principal of AJ Park. She combines her knowledge of intellectual property law, and biotechnological and pharmaceutical inventions to help her clients protect their innovations.
As principal in charge of the life sciences team in AJ Park’s Wellington office, Teresa works at the interface of science and law. She specialises in intellectual property law for biotechnological and pharmaceutical inventions.
Teresa advises on all areas of patent practice, including identifying inventions, providing patentability advice, drafting patent specifications, and managing international filing programmes, as well as prosecuting applications, and defending and investigating opposition and infringement proceedings.
She uses her knowledge and expertise to develop strategic intellectual property management plans to suit her clients’ unique commercial objectives. Teresa represents the Australasian patent interests of local research organisations and major overseas pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and plays a strategic role in the management of their IP portfolios.
A self-described analytical introvert, Teresa loves working through complex issues to find a practical solution. Her clients range from international companies, law firms and CRIs, through to small start-ups. She enjoys working with people who care about what they are doing and are interested in learning, and likes to partner with clients to help them achieve their objectives.
Among the highlights of Teresa’s career are building a qualified and capable team of patent professionals, and handling patent protection in Australia and New Zealand for some of the world’s top-selling biotech products.
It’s so satisfying to see cutting-edge science converted into life-saving products, or to see how IP rights can underpin a business from start-up to public listing.
