The Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) was signed in New Zealand on 4 February 2016. The TPP will come into force within two years if all 12 signatories to the agreement notify they have completed their due domestic processes or after 27 months if at least half of them, including the United States and Japan and other large countries, have done so.

AJ Park partner Kate McHaffie, and senior associate Jo Shaw, recently contributed to an expert research paper summarising the TPP provisions on IP and information technology as they affect New Zealand.
