Copyright in China
An introduction to copyright in China

In this soundbite video our senior associate, Amanda Griffiths, gives a quick intro to copyright law in China.
Copyright registration is something that more and more of our clients are considering as an alternative or as an adjunct to trade mark protection and I think up until recently it’s probably been underutilised.
So, to try and get a copyright registration, it’s a fairly straight forward process, it needs to be a work of fine art and that level is actually quite low. You couldn’t get a word in plain text registered as a copyright work because there’s no artistic element to it, but if you tried to apply for something like a heavily stylised word or a logo or a device, then you should be able to get copyright registration for that.
