Submissions now open on the Copyright Amendment Bill

Article  \  10 Jul 2013

Public submissions are now being invited on the Copyright (Parallel Importing of Films) Amendment Bill.

Individuals and businesses with an interest in this bill should take this opportunity to have their say.

The bill will extend the ban on the commercial parallel importation of films for another three years. The explanatory note of the bill states that this will give the film industry time 'to finish converting to digital exhibition technology and ensure that the film distribution model reflects developments in the market for films, particularly online'.

Submissions are due by 25 July 2013. You can find out more about the submission process here. You can also read more about the Copyright Amendment Bill here.
