Today's consumers are much more environmentally conscious than was once the case, and the fashion industry is no exception. Many people love the idea of buying secondhand luxury goods, as well as repurposing or upcycling items that are no longer fit for purpose.

While there are obvious environmental benefits, not to mention considerable potential cost-savings for consumers, what about the implications for manufacturers who have intellectual property rights in the original items?
