Website ‘1stnewzealand.com’ ripping off New Zealand artists

News  \  2 Jun 2020

Website ‘1stnewzealand.com', allegedly based out of Australia but likely part of a wider network of websites selling a huge range of counterfeit products based out of Vietnam, has been taking New Zealand artists’ creative images and printing them onto clothing and homeware such as shower curtains and bedspreads. However, it doesn’t stop at artwork—this unauthorised use of imagery extends to copyright works owned by private organisations and the New Zealand Government. AJ Park Principal and copyright specialist Matthew Hayes was interviewed by Newshub for this report.
