We are pleased to congratulate Dr Duncan de Geest on his appointment as Chair of the Trans-Tasman IP Attorneys Board (TTIPAB)
The TTIPAB administers the regulatory and disciplinary regimes for patent attorneys in Australia and New Zealand, and trade marks attorneys in Australia. Duncan is one of nine members of the Board, which comprises the Chair, the Director General of IP Australia (ex-officio), the New Zealand Commissioner of Patents (ex-officio), and other members from Australia and New Zealand appointed by the Australian Minister for Industry and Science in consultation with the New Zealand Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.
Having joined the Board in October 2024, Duncan has long been an advocate for the IP profession and has previously served on the Council of New Zealand Intellectual Property Attorneys Inc. He is particularly motivated by the intellectual curiosity of those working in, or entering, the industry and brings a significant depth of technical and regulatory expertise to his new role.
Duncan also serves as AJ Park’s Practice Group Leader (Patents – Chemistry and Biotechnology), where he leads a specialised team of IP professionals, many of whom hold PhDs across a broad range of scientific disciplines.
Please join us in congratulating Duncan on this significant achievement.
