Bryn Harrison

Patent Engineer \ AJ Park IP Limited, Auckland, Wellington

Bryn specialises in materials engineering, bringing a wealth of knowledge in both industrial-scale applications and hands-on workshop projects. With a passion for complex problem-solving, Bryn thrives on iterative solutions that drive innovation.

Experience

Previous to joining AJ Park, Bryn has worked in non-destructive testing (NDT), applying both NDT and destructive testing (DT) methods to support clients. His experience spans a variety of testing techniques, including tensile, compressive, Charpy impact, and hardness testing, as well as advanced NDT methods such as ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing.

During his thesis, Bryn developed novel high-chromium white cast irons and optimised heat treatment processes, creating stronger, more durable, and environmentally sustainable solutions for mining and agriculture applications in Queensland. His work primarily focused on improving the wear resistance of sugarcane crushers through metal casting, heat treatment, and mechanical testing methods, including hardness and abrasion resistance evaluations.

Beyond work

Outside of work, Bryn is passionate about gardening, with a particular focus on growing his own food. He also enjoys woodworking, making plant stands and stools, as well as crocheting. When he's looking to unwind, Bryn immerses himself in video games.
